Mission

The English Department aims to develop students’ overall language proficiency in all the four macro-language domains, namely reading, writing, listening and speaking for a smooth transition to university life; and by extension, to train students to be linguistically well-versed for a wide range of careers after graduation in today’s highly globalized and multicultural world.

• To increase students’ exposure to English and raise their confidence and motivation to learn the language;
• To develop students’ overall language proficiency in all the four macro-language domains, namely reading, writing, listening and speaking;
• To improve teaching and learning efficiency with meaningful and interactive activities;
• To create a multi-cultural and English-rich environment on campus.
